This perspective came about while watching Fox News recently while eating breakfast. During a commercial break two back to back ads came on—the first was asking for a donation of $20 per month to save cats and dogs—and this was immediately followed by an ad for the wounded warriors project in which they asked for $19 per month. By the way the wounded warriors project is a very worthwhile project to get behind.
My thoughts immediately went to the priorities of our nation. And I jumped to a topic that has affected our country beyond belief. That is abortion—the murder and killing of the innocent and unborn. We as a nation appear to be more concerned about animals than humans.
I admit as a Christian that I have ignored this topic of abortion and have not studied it. What does the Bible say about murdering the unborn? I have spent time now doing research and learning about abortion—have you taken the time? How has our country come to a point where “abortion on demand” is commonplace and the baby does not count? It struck me—God is no longer part of our country—there are no absolutes—so we murder babies everyday!
The legal part of it began with Roe vs. Wade in 1973, 42 years ago, hard to believe. The Supreme Court allowed abortions and backed the woman’s right to have an abortion, but this right had to be balanced, protecting prenatal life and protecting the woman’s health. This was tied to the third trimester of pregnancy, then this was rejected and went to the viability of the fetus which was established at 24 to 28 weeks. This spiraled to a point in which partial birth abortions were taking place, which is killing a baby when partially outside of the cervix. This was finally banned in 2003 and upheld in 2007.
The Supreme Court:
Treated abortion as a medical procedure,
Deemed abortion a fundamental right under the U.S. Constitution,
Explicitly rejected a fetal “right to life” argument.
How about a few statistics to put this in perspective for our day and age? Most of the information was obtained from the Guttmacher Institute.
Reported abortions in the USA average 1.3-1.5 million per year. Reported abortions in the USA since 1973, Roe vs. Wade, is approaching 60 million. Guttmacher estimates in 2008 worldwide induced abortions were 43.8 million. This would lead to approximately 1.35 billion abortions worldwide since 1980 (40 million abortions for 34 years).

In 2011 there were 1720 abortion providers in the USA, 63% of all abortions are done in clinics with lesser numbers in physician offices. Can you believe that abortion is a huge money maker?
One-half of all pregnancies in USA are unintended, 4 in 10 end up in an abortion.
In 2011, 86% of abortions took place with unmarried women.
What are the three main reasons given to abort a child:
- Three quarters of women said it would interfere with work and/or school. The child is inconvenient.
- Cannot afford the child.
- Do not want to be a single parent—or having trouble with husband or partner.
And let’s add this—abortion is motivated by an entire self-love. May I say that satan is alive and well!
A few words about how abortions take place. In 2011, 80% of abortions were done by curettage (dilation and evacuation), most are a suction procedure. 20% were medical abortions—this is done by the clinic application of the drug, mifepristone.
96% of second trimester abortions were dilation and evacuation—most of the women were young and healthy. Vacuum aspiration is performed up to 14 weeks of pregnancy and is usually in providers offices or clinics. The aspirator provides the necessary suction to empty the uterus, pulling the developing human being to pieces in the process.
Dilation and evacuation performed after 14 weeks of pregnancy takes longer and may require more than one visit—usually done in providers office, clinic or hospital. A medical abortion using drugs is typically used when a woman is no more than 9 weeks pregnant.

Why all this background information and statistics? It is to make a point that we have thrown God out of this country. Abortion is a biggie that indicates that we ignore God and His Holy Word.
The Bible states that life begins at conception. Think about this: at 18 days the babies heart beats; at 8 weeks the organs function; at 9 weeks there are finger prints; at 10 weeks the baby feels pain; at 12 weeks the baby smiles; at 9 months (33-49 weeks) the baby triggers labor and birth. Please note that babies born at 6 months have survived.

Abortion is a sin against God and His perfect law “Thou shall not kill”. Exodus 20:13, John 1:3-4, John 10:17-18.
Abortion is a sin against ourselves. Romans 6:21, Romans 2:28, Proverbs 8:36.
Abortion is a sin against another human being. Genesis 42:22.
Abortion is a sin against society. Proverbs 14:34.
Why can’t ignorant man learn from an all wise God? At the moment of conception God creates another human life. Psalms 139:16.
God gave us His ability to make moral decisions—animals act instinctively and have no moral conscience. Man has the moral will to exercise the doing of right or the doing of wrong.
It appears we have gone off the deep end of doing wrong by aborting small innocent lives—and God calls this murder.
Satan plays a pivotal role in the advancement of abortion. Murder is the work “of the devil”.
Are we a civilized nation? Wake up America!
Don’t forget your body does not belong to you—it is God’s—and for Christians your body is a temple in which the Holy Spirit dwells. For the Christian, abortion is a matter of the life or death of a human being made in God’s image.
Rather than abortion the child could be given in adoption to a loving family unable to have children on their own. Please know that there are over two million couples waiting to adopt. As this is very important to me I have two adopted boys in my family, both adopted at five days of age.
Will we soon be, or are we there already, completely demoralized, desensitized, and deceived?
An important fact—pain protects the outer man and our conscience protects our inner man. As a nation where is our conscience?
And for those involved in abortion—the mother, the father, the abortion providers, the doctors and their staff—God can and will forgive you—but you must acknowledge God’s condemnation—you must truly repent of your sin and ask for forgiveness—and you need to give your life to Christ. Otherwise hell waits for you.
The good news for the unborn and the newborns who die—the Lord takes his precious treasures home to heaven. Regarding this—a final note to think about! Is it possible and likely that all the aborted babies along with babies and children who died prior to the age of accountability will be part of the Lord’s army in the final “Battle of Armageddon”? They will come with the Lord clothed in fine linen, white and clean. What a great thought!
Is it too late? America needs to turn back to God and soon.
