Unity…

Unity is such a simple word, easy to understand, spoken within  conversations daily, yet in our current social  environments makes this word almost impossible to achieve.
Unity is defined as being respectful of others, togetherness, oneness with someone or something. The opposite word would be divided, sound familiar?
Right now our nation lacks unity in almost all aspects of life, marriage, families, churches, schools, governments, sports, etc. Our social media promotes and sensationalizes this word then communicates just the opposite. There is constant pressure from all sides to buy into their platform. One life , one race is not superior to the other, all lives matter,  we are all made in the image of God. What’s wrong with our society today is a lack of biblical knowledge and understanding of the Word. Can you imagine what would  be more rewarding than for all of mankind walking in unity in step with Jesus?
What does God’s Word have to say about unity? There are many Bible verses relating to unity. Let’s start with the unequivocal verse found in Matthew 22. 37-39. Jesus gave us just two commandments to live by. First, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Second, You shall love your neighbor as yourself’.
If the people of this great nation could grow to understand, believe and practice this one verse, where would this nation be today? Unbelievable prosperity, health, joy would be shared by all. Throughout scripture God promises a multitude of blessings if we simply learn to trust and obey, walk in unity with Him, along side our brothers and sisters. Striving to co-exist with others requires  patience, understanding, meekness, and humility, avoiding hatred at all cost. To love others we must learn what it means to love ourself. ie. Accept who we are, accept what you cannot change, have self respect, positive attitude, unconditional self acceptance. Now apply this principle to others.

Some additional verses for your pursuit.
John 4:20 –  Whoever claims  to love God yet hates his brother is a liar. For whoever does not love his brother whom they have seen cannot love God whom they have not seen.
Psalm 133 –  How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live in unity.
Proverbs 17:17 –   A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
Colossians 3:13 –  Bear with each other and forgive one another, if any of you has a grievance against someone, forgive him as the Lord forgave you.
Matthew 5:9 –   Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God.
Ephesians 4:2-3   Make every effort to keep unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.
Philippians 2:2 –  Make my joy complete being like minded, having the same love and being of one spirit and of one mind.
2 Corinthians 13:11 – Rejoice! Strive for full unification, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love will be with you always.
Revelation 7:9. I looked and behold , a great multitude which no one could count, all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands.

Let God’s Blessings be with you.
