Mentoring and Discipleship have unique qualities and so much in common. To mentor and to be mentored is a growing experience that takes time. It’s a process that requires understanding and patience, builds relationships, creates a confidence and trust in ones self and others. Discipleship illustrates leadership by example, constantly striving for perfection, pursuing goals and objectives. The example is this case is Jesus Christ. How did Jesus interact with his disciples, He choose them individually,  He taught them from His word, through  parables, He was a leader, He set the example (sinless) He served them, He listened and answered their questions. He taught them how to pray, build relationships, and exposed them to what the future would bring.
True Christian discipleship and mentoring are the best forms of world outreach. A willingness to share with others, teach and study His Word together, then apply His Word in our daily walk. Every generation faces its own set of challenges, and each needs Godly men and women to lead. We learn to live from God’s word and grace, not on ourselves.
For someone to be mentored he / she, must first humble themself, learn to listen and
to be a follower for a period of time.
The Bible tells older and mature  christians to expose themselves to younger christians
the rights and wrongs of this world . Share their wisdom and personal experiences.
Over time the mentee and new disciple will grow in confidence and self esteem which will enable one to ward off peer pressure, bullying and exclusion.
Every mature Christian should be looking for opportunities to intentionally mentor and disciple others. If you feel impressed and God is speaking to you open up your heart and go forward, extend your time and talents to help others grow in their faith. Contact your local church, find out what kind of Outreach Ministry’s that are available and how you may fit in. If you are in a Life Group communicate your feelings, there may be others just like you wanting to reach out.
Always remember, God loves you, He knows your heart and where you stand with Him, open up your life so you can know Him personally, build an ever lasting relationship with Him.
